Hoban becomes top shareholder in Korean Air parent

Hoban Group has become the largest shareholder in Hanjin KAL, parent of Korean Air (KE, Seoul Incheon), with a combined 20.7% stake held through four group companies. Additional open-market purchases by Hoban Industry lifted the construction group above Hanjin Group chairman Cho Won-tae and related parties, who hold 20.6%. Cho has agreed to buy another 325,000 shares in December 2026, which could restore his side's position as the largest shareholder. The change has not transferred management control of Hanjin Group to Hoban.
