The longest train – level 1

02-11-2026 07:00 South Africa tests a very long train. The train is 7.6 kilometres long. It has 696 empty wagons. It goes 860 kilometres from the ocean to a mine. Electric and diesel engines help move the big train across the country. The company says that this is now the longest train in the whole world. It is longer than a famous train in Australia from many years ago. That train is 7.2 kilometres long. People believe that this big test is a great step for their country’s trains and business. It will help move heavy things across long distances much faster and better in the future. Difficult words: wagon (one of many parts of a train which carries things or materials), mine (a deep hole in the earth from which workers get minerals, stones, or other materials), distance (how far two places or objects are from each other). You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section. The post The longest train – level 1 appeared first on English news and easy articles for students of English.
