Cozy Gamer Room Redo.

Cozy Gamer Room Redo.
This was kind of a long slow process, but things finally started coming together once we made the decision to get it done. I took everything off the walls and moved all the furniture to the middle of the room so we could paint. Hubby did the walls and I did the baseboards. The room went from builder beige to an off white called Cotton Knit which is what the rest of the rooms in the house have on the walls except for the kitchen and laundry room.Once the room was painted, we expected to be putting in my new desk which we ordered from the orange depot. They lost it and had to reorder, so it was a long wait. It finally came in and hubby put it together. It's a double station desk which nicely replaces two separate desks I had before. Here it is put together. I was using a folding table temporarily and you can see how much bigger the new desk is in comparison. It's 78 inches long!I ordered a new chair, a gamer chair, also from the orange depot, only this time it arrived very quickly. I put it together myself. It's really comfy and it even reclines and has a footrest. If you look closely, just to the left of my monitor is a cool power tower. It has USB ports on it.Very handy. I also bought a metal basket that hangs off the back side of the desk to contain allthe power cords. This holds everything neat and tidy and also keeps our cat Manny from chewing on the wires. After the desk was in place, we waited a bit for the right time to put up some shelving. That was another headache as we had to go looking between two home improvement stores to find white laminated shelving that wasn't dinged up and 8 matching brackets. After a long morning doing that on a rainy day, hubby finally got to put them up.Before I show the after photo, I'll show a photo of what it looked like before the redo. Here's the before...And here's the after.Much neater and more streamlined The right side is where I paint/craft. But wait, there's more!I wanted cozy gamer lighting, so we bought this strip of LED lights. It has adhesive on the back. so it installs pretty easily. I had originally put it under the shelves, but it didn't stay up very well and sagged in some places, so I redid it and put the strip along the outside edge of the shelves. It's staying up fine now. There are lots of different colors and ways to have them run. I like the fade where it slowly changes colors. Here's how it looks at night. And during the day. That big anime style picture over my desk is a piece our daughter did in 10th grade. Shewon first place in the graphic art category of a local art exhibition in PA. I have always loved it so I bought a new frame for it and it looks great. Of course, somebody thinks all this was done just for him, lol. So 95% of this redo is done. We are just waiting on a file cabinet that fits under my desk and a mount so I can hang a tv on a side wall for playing Nintendo Switch games. The opposite wall behind my desk is pretty blank. I have a small settee and a chest of drawers on that side of the room. Nothing special, but I'm working on it, lol. Meanwhile, I'm really happy with how this all turned out because I expect to be spending a lot of time in here during the cold winter months. I love when a plan finally comes together!
