The Tale of the Blue Suede Shoes.

I hemmed and hawed about buying a new pair of shoes for winter. I usually just wear flip slops or sneakers, but I wanted an everyday shoe to wear that was a step up. I saw these blue suede clogs on QVC of all places. Anyone buy from QVC? It's probably been a minute. I know it has been for me. I made one purchase last year and bought some pretty fabric storage cubes for my guest bedroom and they arrived, no problem, but these shoes have a tale to tell. And by the way, aren't they cute?I ordered them and I get to pay in 4 easy installments, isn't that nice? I received an email that they were shipping, then another notice that they were arriving soon, then another saying they would be delivered the next day. But wait! I looked closer and saw that the address they were being delivered to was my old address in Fairhope where I used to live over 10 years ago! What? I immediately called QVC. The lady on the phone was sweeter than sugar, but she said there was nothing she could do and that I would have to contact UPS and see if they could re-direct the package for me. Okay, great. Sounds like a plan. I went online to UPS, entered the tracking number and tried to re-direct the package, but it wouldn't let me because I didn't have an account with them. So I had another brilliant plan. I'll just go down to the UPS Store and they can do it from there! Woo hoo! The case is solved! So I go there and guess what? They can't help me. They gave me the 1-800 customer service number and said I had to call. Okie dokie! I got back home, called UPS and got a dude from India. He said he couldn't change the address for me, but I could do it if I got a UPS My Choice account online. Sigh. Alrighty then. I'll do that!So I proceed to come up with yet another user name and password and open a UPS account. You can view incoming as well as outgoing packages, but of course, my shoes didn't show up on the account because the package had the wrong address on it. So I entered the tracking number and again, tried to re-direct the package, but it wouldn't let me because that old address was not on my account. I had ONE LAST OPTION! I DROVE down to Fairhope to the cottage where we used to live. Nobody was there and there were no cars in the driveway. There was a realtor sign out front because the home is now a vacation rental. So, using the old gray matter, I decided to call the realtor and see if anyone was currently renting. Maybe they were out for the day and would come back, who knows? Well, the realtor was nice and informed me it was not occupied, but that new vacationers would be arriving probably Friday. I explained that my package was to arrive Thursday and he said to leave a note on the door for the renters to hold it, so I did just that. I left my phone number for them to call me and I would get down there asap to pick it up. This what the cottage looks like now. They fixed it up cute. Here is a link to an old post about this place: An Homage to Clamco CottageI had to work on Thursday, but just before my shift ended, I got a call from the realtor that my shoes had arrived and to come pick them up asap because renters were checking in at 4:00. So I hightailed it down there and got my shoes!!! Yay! While I was in town, I went over to the farmer's market and treated myself to a few goodies and visited with a friend who was selling plants. So there ends the tale of the blue suede shoes. In other news, my office renovation is coming along and I will post about that soon. I ordered a desk from Home Depot and it was to be delivered to the store, so we could pick it up. It was very heavy and I didn't want to take a chance at getting home delivery and having it arrive damaged. Well, we never got a notice to pick it up, so hubby went there to find out what the heck happened. Apparently someone signed for it, but they didn't recognize the signature and the desk was not in the building. Hmmm! So they ordered us another one and it finally arrived yesterday. So that was another totally weird delivery issue and someone out there probably got a desk for free. Have you ever had a package go missing in limbo or delivered to the wrong house and you had to track it down? Were you successful at finding it?
