Ted Bundy linked to another 1970s Utah murder, authorities say

Utah authorities formally linked another unsolved murder dating back more than 50 years ago to one of the most prolific serial killers in American history: Ted Bundy. The Summit County sheriff and county attorney made the announcement during a news conference on Tuesday, as well as disclosed the findings that led investigators to identify Bundy as the murderer, and explained their decision to close the cold case.Officials also identified the victim as Melissa Ann Smith, a 17-year-old girl whose body was found in a wooded area near Toll Canyon in Summit Park in October 1974. Her death had been listed as an unsolved case -- and was believed by state authorities to be connected to Bundy.--------------------------------------------------For more on the story: https://komonews.com/news/nation-world/serial-killer-utah-authorities-set-to-link-ted-bundy-to-another-1970s-murder-homicide-investigation-death-penalty-execution-electric-chair-capital-punishment-cold-case-dna-evidence-melissa-ann-smith-kimberly-leach-margaret-bowman-lisa-levy-true-crime_______________Stay up to date with our social media:https://www.facebook.com/KOMONews/https://twitter.com/komonewshttp://instagram.com/komo4https://www.tiktok.com/@komo4seattleDownload our iOS App: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/komo-news-mobile/id433508161?mt=8 Download our Android App: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.newssynergy.komo&hl=en Have a news tip?
