Here’s What To See In Lincoln Park And Lakeview During Open House Chicago 2026
LINCOLN PARK — From a nearly 140-year-old church designed by a prominent Chicago architect to a floating eco-park on the Chicago River, Open House Chicago will offer visitors a look inside some of Lincoln Park and Lakeview’s most distinctive and unusual spaces this weekend. Listen 🎧 Organized by the Chicago Architecture Center, Open House Chicago returns Saturday and Sunday with more than 200 sites across 30 neighborhoods. Admission is free, and no advance registration is required. This year brings two new stops to the neighborhoods: Temple Sholom in Lakeview and St. Pauls United Church of Christ in Lincoln Park. St. Pauls United Church of Christ, 2335 N. Orchard St. Provided/Open House Chicago. Temple Sholom, 3480 N. Lake Shore Drive, is one of Chicago’s oldest Reform Jewish congregations, founded in 1867. Its current building dates to 1928 and was originally a student design project at the Armour Institute, now the Illinois Institute of Technology, before professional architects took over. Its Byzantine- and Moorish-revival design includes a large domed roof, arched windows and stained glass. St. Pauls United Church of Christ, 2335 N. Orchard St., was largely rebuilt after a devastating Christmas Day fire destroyed much of its original 1898 German Gothic Cathedral-style building. Visitors can tour its 1950s-era sanctuary, chapel, gymnasium and other spaces.
