Moser Adds Its Sportiest Feature to Its Full Watch Lineup

It’s like a tachometer on your wrist. H. Moser & Cie. If you buy from a link, we may earn a commission. Learn more You’ve heard of watches with a tachymeter, but what about a tachometer? Although it doesn’t actually measure engine revs, H. Moser & Cie.‘s unique 30-second retrograde display comes pretty close to mimicking both the look and action of everyone’s favorite automotive guage. The display’s hand tracks seconds from left to right in a sweeping bow-shaped arc, and once it reaches 30 seconds, it instantly snaps back to the beginning to start tracking the next 30. It’s a display akin to a tachometer resetting when shifting gears, and it’s simply awesome to witness. Moser introduced the retrograde seconds complication on its everyday sports watch, the Pioneer, almost exactly two years ago with the Pioneer Retrograde Seconds. Moser expands its Retrograde Seconds line with three new models spanning its entire catalog.H. Moser & Cie. Now, the brand has rolled out the complication across its full watch lineup with the Streamliner and Endeavour also getting the complication, plus another Pioneer. The Streamliner Retrograde Seconds is most similar to the original Pioneer model, as it also features a Midnight Blue fumé dial to go along with its stainless steel case. Unlike that Pioneer, which comes on a rubber strap, it also comes with the Streamliner’s signature integrated steel bracelet for a cohesive look. The complication is the perfect aesthetic match for the Streamliner’s sporty design.H. Moser & Cie. The Endeavour Retrograde Seconds is the most surprising addition of this new trio, as the Endeavour is Moser’s dressiest line and this is a decidedly sporty complication. Still, it works here, with this specific Endeavour leaning more casual with a Blackor fumé dial and a steel case. It’s paired with a night blue nubuck alligator leather strap. The Endeavour Retrograde Seconds is the most surprising, combining the sportiness of the complication with Moser’s dressiest watch.H. Moser & Cie. Lastly, we have the Pioneer Skeleton Retrograde Seconds, which skeletonizes the in-house HMC 252 automatic movement (the skeletonized version of the calibre is dubbed the HMC 251). The complication itself was already pretty open about its mechanism, with its rotating snail cam in full view, but the skeletonization reveals even more intricacies of the movement’s inner workings. The Pioneer Skeleton Retrograde Seconds is also a rare example of a Pioneer that comes on a matching steel bracelet. The Pioneer’s underused H-link bracelet is exceptional, with immaculately crafted links and a push-button microadjustable clasp, but it’s typically only offered as a standalone add-on. The Pioneer Skeleton gives the most intricate look at the inner workings of the unique complication we’ve ever seen.H. Moser & Cie. Hopefully this is a sign that Moser plans on including the bracelet as standard on more Pioneers in the future. If you prefer your Pioneer on rubber, as Moser does most of the time, then you’re still in good shape, as the Skeleton Retrograde Seconds also includes a khaki rubber strap. Availability We may have all been spoiled with the release of the Moser Streamliner Off-Grid last month, which made headlines as the brand’s most affordable watch ever, by far, with an SRP below five grand. But with these new releases, Moser is back to its very pricey ways. The Endeavour is the most “affordable” at $35,200. Next is the Streamliner, priced at $37,700. Finally there’s the Pioneer Skeleton, which tops out the Retrograde Seconds line at $44,100. All three are available now from Moser’s dealer network. H. Moser & Cie. H. Moser & Cie.
