Meet Piccolo (formerly Mr. Pickles)! In his new foster home it has been discovered that Piccolo is deaf. He is looking for a loving forever home with someone who will become his new best friend and have room for 104 pounds of pure love and joy. From his rescue advocate: Piccolo means “small” in Italian, which is a little ironic for a big, goofy boy like this. But there’s nothing intimidating about him. Piccolo is about 16 months old — a curious, gentle soul who lives for affection. He already knows sit, down, and wait, but what really stands out is how mellow he is. He doesn’t pull on the leash, isn’t reactive, and gets along great with other dogs. His one weakness: when someone comes to say hi, he plops right down and waits for the pets he knows he deserves. He’s a laid-back, easygoing boy who prefers a relaxed stroll over a long trek, but he’ll happily tag along anywhere people are gathering. Whether you’re a single person, a couple, or a family with kids, if you love cafés, patios, and neighborhood hangouts, he’d be a great match. Piccolo was raised as a puppy by loving, committed foster families in Oakland, alongside kids and cats, in August 2025. In August 2026, he was found as a stray in Berkeley and spent over a month in a shelter before being placed with his current foster family, where he now lives with a kid and a resident dog.
