Florida leaps into Football Power Index top 10 after beating Ole Miss

Florida football made a statement in the Swamp on Saturday with a 52-28 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels, marking the program's first 4-0 start since 2019. With the win, the Gators moved up in ESPN's Football Power Index rankings into the top 10 while also making vast improvements in some of the other metrics.The FPI measures team strength and is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance for the rest of the season; it shows how many points above or below average a team is. Each team is assigned a rating that measures its true strength on a net points scale as well as expected point margin versus an average opponent on a neutral field.Projected results are based on 20,000 simulations of the season using FPI and the schedule. Here is a look at how Florida's numbers shake out after Week 4's results.Where Florida football ranks in ESPN's FPI after Week 4Florida moved up six spots to No. 10 in ESPN's FPI rankings after the Week 4 win, and its rating improved by 2.9 points to 19.3. Sumrall and Co. now sit between No. 9 Oregon (21.7) and No. 11 Tennessee (18.2) in the standings.The FPI now projects the Gators to finish this fall's regular-season schedule with a 9.0-3.2 record and with an improved 0.9% chance of winning out — up from the 0.1% chance they had before.
