They deserve to win,” Kiffin said. “I know it sounds weird, as much as I dislike the losing, whatever, there is a part in there of, you know, a lot of those coaches and players, and I wouldn’t say excited, but I’m glad for them.”The reception was as hostile as advertised. Kiffin was booed on arrival and waved at the crowd on his way in, a fitting bookend to a departure that saw Ole Miss fans jeer him at the airport. He informed athletic director Keith Carter on November 29 that he was leaving for LSU, then was denied his request to coach the Rebels through the College Football Playoff.The game itself got away early. Ole Miss led 24-7 at halftime behind Trinidad Chambliss, who threw for 363 yards and two scores. LSU clawed back within eight, but Sam Leavitt’s fourth-and-goal pass from the 6 was tipped by Kam Franklin and intercepted by Jaylon Braxton with 1:03 remaining.LSU falls to 2-1 and 0-1 in SEC play.
