Florida Police Outraged Over Proposed GTA 6 Miami Takeover To Promote Game

There’s strong pushback for the proposed Grand Theft Auto 6 city takeover in Miami. Last week, Rockstar Games released extended footage of GTA 6, which takes place in Vice City, a fictionalized version of Miami. It was later reported that Rockstar Games approached Miami-Dade County officials about a potential promotional Grand Theft Auto 6-themed takeover of Miami. “We’ve had some conversations with Rockstar Games about potential opportunities around the launch of GTA VI,” Miami-Dade mayor Carlos Suarez said. “Nothing has been formally agreed to or approved. Given Miami-Dade’s clear influence on the game, we think there could be a unique opportunity to generate revenue for the county while showcasing Miami-Dade to a massive audience.” Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz spoke out against a potential partnership between the city and the game makers. “Grand Theft Auto is a video game franchise built around criminal activity,” Cordero-Stutz said in a statement. “Its fictional world includes murder, robbery, drug trafficking, carjacking, violence against law enforcement, and other conduct that the men and women of the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office work every single day to prevent.” Miami-Dade County Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez also released a statement opposing the collab, “Miami-Dade County has spent decades building a reputation as a world-class destination for tourism, business, investment, and opportunity,” stated Bermudez. “We should be promoting the Miami-Dade we have worked so hard to build, not a fictional version of our community defined by crime and violence.” The post Florida Police Outraged Over Proposed GTA 6 Miami Takeover To Promote Game appeared first on BroBible.
