Small magnitude-3.8 tremor reported 59 miles southwest of Nikolski, Alaska, United States

Just 14 minutes ago, a magnitude-3.8 earthquake struck near Nikolski, Aleutians West, Alaska, USA. The tremor was recorded on the evening of Monday, August 31st, 2026, at 9:52 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 6.5 miles below the surface.The event was reported by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which also listed it as a magnitude-3.8 earthquake.According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people or caused any damage.
