Brevard County Man Arrested After Allegedly Sending Threatening Emails to Judge, Sheriff Says

Message from Sheriff Wayne Ivey BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Folks, with everything in life, there is a right way and wrong way to go about things when we disagree with people, but trust me when I tell you that when you take the approach that Michael Barnard just did toward one of our Judges, you are going straight to jail. You see, ole Barnard here didn’t like how one of our judges recently ruled, so he decided to send an email to the Judge telling her what she needed to do in one of his cases and actually more like what she better do if she knew what was good for her. Yup, you read that correctly; he decided to send two emails to Judge Jacobus under an email address he created, telling her that she has made several poor decisions and that he was coming for her. He then proceeded to tell her, “I highly suggest you start by dismissing your temp order. Then push for clarity in my other case and hope God has mercy.” Well, as you might imagine, it didn’t take long to discover who sent the emails, as he left several clues making it easy to figure out. Barnard had also been served a temporary restraining order just hours before the first email was sent. Agents responded to his residence to talk to him about the emails and to arrest him on a different warrant for Violation of Probation that was for…(drumroll please)…Written Threats To Kill Or Do Bodily Harm. At the time of his arrest Barnard told Agents he was upset with Judge Jacobus over recent proceedings in his case and that is why he sent the emails which of course it’s safe to say was a huge mistake. As a result of his already existing warrant and his latest in a long line of dumb actions, Barnard took the ride to Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge for 1 count of Corruption By Threat Against A Public Servant, 1 count of Unlawful Use Of A Two- Way Communication Device, 1 count of Violation Of Probation, and of course his existing warrant. Another job by Agent Anterio for quickly getting this guy locked up and while I’d like to say maybe he will think about what he’s done, based on his history I’m not quite sure he will. Oh well, at least he gets one of our world famous “I Messed Around And Found Out In Brevard County” souvenir t-shirt for staying at the lodge, which as we all know are very high in demand.
