Zack Wheeler’s All-Star Snub is a Damn Crime

There are always gonna be snubs when All-Star selection announcements roll around, but truth be told, I can’t remember being as pissed about one as I am about Zack Wheeler getting hosed this year. Hell yeah.” “I don’t see Wheeler.” “Where is Wheeler? “They forgot Wheeler on the graphic.“ “This graphic’s wrong.” “Not judging. Making a graphic like this is probably hard. It’s a nice graphic. Skenes has not! Wheeler has posted a 2.36 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, .193 opponent batting average, and an 8-1 record compared to Skenes’s 3.62 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, .211 opponent batting average, and 6-8 record. It’s not close! What are we doing here? I get this. I understand this. But it doesn’t make me feel any better about it. I’m tired of Wheeler being underrated. We appreciate him here in Philly, but it’s always felt to me like he’s overlooked across baseball. He should have at least one Cy Young by now (2021 or 2024, pick one, it should be his). He currently has the fourth-highest bWAR (3.8) in baseball. He has a 2.36 ERA. He’s coming back from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery. They took out one of his ribs. He keeps his rib in his closet. What more does this guy have to do… Make things right, MLB. Make Wheeler a replacement All-Star — the sooner the better.
