Farmington man sentenced to 20 years for stabbing wife, causing serious injuries

A Farmington man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for stabbing his wife 10 times, leaving her with serious injuries. On Thursday, Mehdi Badaoui, 53, was sentenced to 240 months in prison in Dakota County court. He previously pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree attempted murder in connection with the April 15, 2025 stabbing. According to charges, Farmington Police Department officers were called to a domestic assault report at around 8:30 a.m. that morning. At the home, officers were told there was a woman who had been stabbed and could not move. Officers observed multiple stab wounds while treating her.The victim was then taken to the hospital for emergency surgery, with medical staff finding a total of 10 stab wounds.Badaoui was found in the garage of the home with blood on his hand and was taken into custody. In an interview with police, Badaoui’s wife stated that her husband had accused her of cheating. She also said Badaoui had beaten her and threatened her with a knife before, according to the charges. A witness told police that she had woken up that morning to yelling.
