Is it your ethical duty to resist, to preserve your history and identity, and suffer the consequences? That’s an age-old question going back at least 2400 years when it was dramatized by Sophocles in the classic Greek tragedy Antigone. And it’s a question raised once again in the new play Antikoni, a reimagining of Sophocles’ play from a Native American perspective. The performances, a collaboration between Bag and Baggage Productions and Native Performing Arts Network, run from this Saturday June 6 through Sunday June 21st at the Vault Theater in Hillsboro. To preview the play, we’re fortunate to have the playwright Beth Piatote and the production’s director Jeanette Harrison. Topic tags: Arts/Culture, Family, IndigenousGenre(s): Arts and Culture
