If a man doesn’t ask for a second date, should I assume he’s not interested?

I’m 21F and recently went on a first date that I thought went pretty well. He was nice, the conversation was good, and nothing felt awkward to me. But he hasn’t asked for a second date yet. Men, when you don’t ask for a second date, does that usually mean you’re not interested? Or do some men wait to see if the woman will show interest too?
