Television as a form of entertainment

I'm rewatching TNG again.... And got a nice tidbit of information... In S1E26, Data claims that Television didn't last much beyond the year 2040.... If I live long enough, that would make me 80... In other Star Trek lore... WW3 is supposed to occur this year..... I wonder how prophetic Gene Roddenberry really was... After all .. so much tech that we saw on Star Trek is now commonplace.
