Learn from my bad example- cat accident

Starting this off by saying, I know I was not careful enough and I feel terrible. Something happened to my baby. I wanted to share this, just in case it would be helpful to someone else and keep another cat from going through what my cat went through. My sweet six-year-old kitty went through a wash cycle in my clothes washer. I had checked the clothes went to get more and she slipped in while I was getting the other laundry. I started the load and left for the day. I came home with switching the laundry, and I found her shivering but alive, barely She was hypothermic had water in her lungs, and bruises all over. We weren’t sure she was going to make it, but we got her into a hospital that took great care of her and cost us almost $9000. She is home and having a seemingly miraculous recovery. I will now be always keeping my laundry room, door shut and being careful the vet said that this actually happens frequently as as accidents were cats end up in the fridge or other dangerous places. It was an absolute horrible experience, finding her like that for me and my kids. I feel awful that she went through that and is recovering from it and would do anything to be able to change how I handled the laundry room. Here she is today so snuggly.
