Mike Brown boils Knicks’ record 3-point shooting down to 1 thing
The New York Knicks rained down threes to complete the sweep of the Philadelphia 76ers. Head coach Mike Brown witnessed 25 attempts fall inside the hoop during the 144-114 rout on Mother’s Day. Brown boiled down that NBA Playoffs record-tying effort to one thing. It wasn’t shooting arc that led to the epic outing from behind the arc. Here’s what Brown saw that made the 3-point game so efficient. “If I had to say one thing, it’s the spacing,” Brown told reporters post game. “Those guys are so quick, they’re so athletic. They do a great job of going to take the basketball if you’re not paying attention. If you’re not spaced the right way, you’re not going to get great looks.” "If I had to say one thing, it's the spacing. Those guys are so quick, they're so athletic." Particularly Miles McBride early on. McBride exploded in hitting his first four three attempts before hitting a scorching 6-of-7 from behind the arc. And this Knicks option walked in averaging 12 points per game plus needed to fill in for OG Anunoby. Yet McBride dropped 20 points in front of a crowd that saw more Knicks fans than 76ers even away from Madison Square Garden. McBride slightly cooled down in the second half in scoring five points the rest of the way. But New York already wrapped the game up and McBride’s hot shooting wasn’t sorely needed. Jalen Brunson added 22 points with six made threes. Josh Hart and Karl Anthony-Towns added 17 points apiece with the former nailing four long range baskets. Mikal Bridges and Landry Shamet each scored 12 points apiece. Brown didn’t begin gloating about the 3-point output, though. The Knicks coach began by shouting out the moms on the national holiday.
