USB-C port keeps dying on Surface Laptop 4 – only fixed with 20s power reset?
Hey all, I’ve been having a really frustrating issue with my Surface Laptop 4 and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this or found a proper fix. Basically, my USB-C port will randomly stop working completely: - No charging - No data (USB devices not detected at all) - It’s like the port is just dead What’s weird is: - A normal restart does nothing - The only way to get it working again is to hold the power button for ~20–30 seconds (forced shutdown) - After that, the USB-C port works again… until it randomly fails later I’ve already: - Installed all Windows updates + Surface firmware - Tried different USB-C cables and chargers - Tested with multiple devices (same issue) When it fails, it doesn’t work with anything — charging or data. Has anyone else had this happen? Is this a known issue with the Surface Laptop 4 USB-C controller, or does this sound like hardware failure? Trying to figure out if there’s anything else I can try before looking at repair/replacement. Appreciate any help 👍 submitted by /u/Rahul_14 [link] [comments]
